Web accessibility helps you create digital content that works better for everyone, no matter how they access or interact with the web. In today’s workplaces, inclusive design is not just a recommendation, it is a responsibility that directly affects usability, legal compliance, and brand reputation. This expert-led course gives you a practical, hands-on approach to understanding what accessibility means, why it matters, and how to build experiences that are easier to use and more inclusive from the start.

You will explore how people use the web in different ways and how features like screen readers, captions, alternative input methods, and adaptable layouts impact usability. You will learn how to identify barriers that may not be obvious in traditional testing, and how to apply tested strategies to improve content structure, readability, navigation, and input design. With 50 percent of the course focused on hands-on work, you will use assistive technologies and simple testing tools to evaluate content and practice applying the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) principles of Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust. You will also build awareness of ethical and legal considerations that affect accessibility decisions in real-world projects.

This course is designed for anyone involved in creating or managing digital content. Ideal attendees include UX designers, front-end developers, content creators, product managers, QA testers, and others interested in inclusive digital practices. Whether you are new to accessibility or supporting a team effort to improve compliance and usability, this course gives you practical skills and tools you can apply right away. No prior accessibility experience is required, but a basic familiarity with the web and digital workflows is recommended. You will leave with a clear understanding of how to improve user experience through accessibility and how to support your organization’s inclusion goals with confidence.

Objectives

The overall goal of this course is to help you build the skills and confidence to create web experiences that are accessible, inclusive, and easy for everyone to use.

  • Identify different types of disabilities and how they can impact digital interactions.
  • Understand how assistive technologies work and how users rely on them.
  • Apply the four WCAG principles to improve the accessibility of websites and digital content.
  • Evaluate web content using basic accessibility tools and testing strategies.
